Crew Points are back

After a long vacation (many years) we have brought back the Crew Point system. Here is how it works:

In order to audition for the Christmas show you will need a certain amount of crew points. These are points gained for working backstage, ushering, volunteering at Grandstreet of any kind, and help in the classroom. Of course this year we will be very generous but next fall ('09) you will have to have all your crew points in order to audition. We will also give a crew point scholarship at the banquet in May to the person with the most crew points.

To record your crew points you just write your name in the crew point book that is in the classroom and record the number of points earned.

Kindergarten through 4th graders need 1 crew point.
5th through 8th graders need 2 crew points.
High School needs 3 crew points.

Examples:
Ushering for one show= 2 crew points
working backstage= 2 crew points per show
One hour of helping build a set or put costumes away=2 crew points
Helping a teacher with something in class= 1 crew point
There are other ways to earn them and teachers will give them out as they see volunteer work happening.

We feel it is important to understand that community theatre and good shows don't just happen, it takes a lot of volunteer work. Thanks!

Auditions for Babes in Toyland September 13th

You will need 16-32 measures of a song from a musical, headshot, resume and conflict sheet. If you want to be considered for a speaking role you must also have a monologue around one minute long.

The following roles are available
Uncle Barnaby, a rich miser in love with Contrary Mary
Roderigo, a sentimental ruffian
Gonzorgo, his hard-hearted partner
Widow Piper, a lonely widow with fourteen children
Alan, nephew of Barnaby
Jane, neice of Barnaby
Contrary Mary, the widow Piper's eldest daughter
Tom Tom, her eldest son
Simple Simon, who is fond of fairs
Tommy Tucker, who sings for his supper and everything else
Bo-Peep, who is a careless shepherdess
Bobby Shaftoe, who wants to be a sailor
Peter Piper, who has a passion for pumpkin pie
Jack, who does chores
Jill, who helps Jack
Boy Blue, who wants to be a farmer
Miss Muffet, who is afraid of spiders
Red Riding Hood, who is devoted to her grandmother
Curly Locks, who wants to wed a title
Sallie Waters, who wants to get married
Hilda, maid of all work in the Piper household
Master Toymaker, who designs all the toys of the world
Grumio, apprentice to the Toymaker
THe Brown Bear
Gurturde, a peasant
Inspector Marmaduke, of the Toyland Police
THe Spirit of the Oak
THe Sprit of the Pine
The Spirit of the Willow
THe SPirit of the Maple
The Giant Spider
Dandies, Butterflies, Flower Girls, Dolls, Trumpeters. Drummers, etc

Scholarship Auditions—May 3, 2008

Scholarship auditions will be held May 3rd at the theatre. This is your opportunity to win a full or half tuition scholarship to our
Summer Theatre School. Or you can win a $150.00 scholarship for any performing arts camp . Application deadline is April 20, 2008.
You should prepare 3 application packets that include:
· Picture and resume
· One letter of recommendation
· Application form
Your audition should include:
· A short introduction
· Two (one for elementary students a 90 second time limit) contrasting pieces (two monologues or one monologue and one song or two songs) less than 3 minutes total.
